Brilliantly made documentary that holds your attention from start to finish. Some fascinating new footage of the band, great editing and fresh insights from those involved - this really leaves you with a vivid sense of why Joy Division were so special.

Great companion to Control

A Customer from Bristol, 16th October, 2008

Having seen the excellent Ian Curtis biopic 'Control'', 'Joy Division' is a great film that replaces fiction with reality. Some great new footage and excellent band interviews make this essential and it not only puts Joy Division in context but also gives a view of what it was like in Manchester when the boys were growing up, which shaped their attitude. If you are a fan of Joy Division and/or New Order, then this is a must see DVD .

Extras

PeverilOfThePeak from , 5th January, 2009

The film itself is as detailed a film biography as I've ever seen of a band, but please, please, please watch the extras bit. It is in 48 parts ranging from 20 seconds to 3 minutes long of lovely vignettes. The tale of Mr Silk the magician playing pool with Ian and Barney, and the tale of how Steve and Hooky were questioned in the Ripper hunt were amongst the best. The extras bit is as great as the film.

No Joy Division

What can I say, but dull, dull, dull. How to take an interesting subject and make it utterly pointless and dull. Avoid like the plague!

Joy Division

Seems that everyone is riding the Ian Curtis wave at the moment. But this is possibly the best one available. Watched it now for the third time and still can't believe how good they all were. But getting back to the review. For a fan this is a must see, not only are there rare unseen footage, but you all finally get to see the mysterious Annik Honore. Cracking Biography from start to finish. Only downside is that the extra's could have done with Music Videos etc, or even the 'Here are the young men' Concert
