"The Rocker," aka Robert "Fish" Fishman, was the drummer for an '80s hair band. He was living the rock 'n' roll dream until he was kicked out of the group. Twenty years later, the desperate rocker joins his nephew's band, "A.D.D.," finally reclaiming the rock-god throne he's always thought he deserved--while taking his much younger band mates along for the ride of their lives.

Laughs and gags and Rock and roll...

PaulaWestwood from , 20th October, 2008

The pain of being kicked out of a band never left Fish (Rainn Wilson) and having endured 20 years of dead end mediocre jobs his nephew is in need of a tub thumper for a new band after the current stick man is grounded by his mom. Fish's slight (?) initial over-enthusiasm alienates his bandmates (brilliantly played by Josh Gad, Emma Stone and Teddy Geiger) and along with an entourage of concerned parents when the opportunity comes to hit the road, well to say more might ruin it. Safe to say I absolutely loved every spandex clad minute of this superb riomp of a movie, on top of all that most of the tunes were pretty good too... plus, irreverently relevant is the inclusion of Pete Best in a cameo role.. genius !!!.... A definate one to watch, Superb...

If you saw the trailer...

portugeezer from , 18th February, 2010

..then you pretty much saw the funniest gags in the film! The story is nothing original and some of the cast were picked a bit randomly. Sure, Rainn can deliver the goods as an ageing rocker but most of the time he was behind the drums it just didn't look authentic enough. With an ending as predictable as most comedies this film doesnt disappoint and when it finished I was left thinking 'Is that it?'. Rent this if you want a good 'hangover film' (i.e. one that isn't too taxing on the brain, yet watchable) but not for laugh out loud gags.

"The Rocker"

This is a very funny film and worth a giggle. Rainn Wilson plays the ex-rockstar who joins a school band. Cringworthy but very good.

Wrong Trailer

AndrewH13 from , 11th December, 2009

This trailer seems from another film! Got fed up with recent 'Jack Black' films but this rocker is real funny. Film gets better as it progresses until the obvious end we were waiting for.
