UNTAMED HEART is a tender tale about the romance between Adam (Christian Slater), a severely introverted busboy with a congenital heart problem and Caroline (Marisa Tomei), a waitress with a penchant for men who reject her. Walking home late one night from the Minneapolis diner where she and Adam work, Caroline is attacked by two thugs. Just as they are about to rape her, Adam miraculously appears and beats the living daylights out of the two guys. To her surprise, Caroline discovers that the shy, silent Adam has been infatuated with her from afar and has even followed her home every night to make sure nothing happens to her along the way. Won over by his sweetness and devotion, Caroline enters into a tentative relationship with Adam, gently guiding him through his first experience with physical and emotional intimacy.

Marisa Tomei and Christian Slater both work hard to wring every ounce of uplift and emotion from this well-meaning, if slightly contrived, romance. Slater plays the shy kitchen guy with a congenital heart defect who saves waitress Tomei from a vicious night-time assault by thugs, an event that leads the bruised souls to embark on a hesitant relationship. Everyone says it can't last, especially delicious Rosie Perez in another of her trademark sassy, wisecracking roles. Although the outcome is fairly predictable, there's enough along the bittersweet way to engage and amuse.

A joy to watch!

David Pantrini from England, London, 24th March, 2004

Simply delightful, no more no less!.

Tony Bill has had a long and varied carrier in film and has acted in classics lsuch as Ice Station Zebra and directed a lot of strait to video and TV films.
In my humble opinion this film was his finest hour, a low budget film crafted with real feeling and from the moment Marisa Tomie dances around her bedroom to Tom's Dinner you know it's going to be good!.
Watch this film and whether your a man, woman, boy or girl I defy you not to be moved by this picture. Watch this film and enjoy this film but only when it's over do you relies how well crafted this film actually is, it could so easily have slipped in to the bottom shelf department. Watch it, enjoy it!.

A Joy to watch!.

A beautiful film

Francisco from Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, 19th December, 2004

Caroline has just been dumped by her boyfriend. Whilst walking home from work 2 men try to rape her. Adam, a colleague of hers, comes to her aid. As she gets to know Adam she starts falling for him. The film has believable, sympathetic, 3 dimensional characters. It's touching and warm. On the other hand, some of the scenes are a little bit drawn out. Just one final thing, the film is not a comedy. It does have funny moments but it's a drama (and a good one at that).

Enjoyable romantic movie

Barbie from Surrey, 29th June, 2005

A lovely sentimental film which held me captivated for its duration. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because of the ending - I can't say why without spoiling it for the rest of you, so you'll have to watch it and see if you agree with me.

Loved It!

A Customer from London, UK, 25th January, 2005

This was a bit of a touch and go choice for me because Rosie Perez gets on my last nerve but this was a really lovely movie - ok the lead is an essence a wierd stalker but he's Christian Slater so it's all good! This is a TRUE romantic movie - great for a rainy Friday night!

BEAUTIFUL

hitcher37 from , 1st March, 2010

This's one of the few Rom-coms i like and whole heartedly endorse from beginning to end. This film will tug the heart strings even the most cynical among you with it's simplicity. Slater and Tomei complement each other seamlessly with a understated passion there's a simple beauty they bring to their respective roles. I think this's one of Slater's better films (certainly makes up for that atrocious accent in 'Robin Hood') Rosie Perez as the sassy waitress dealing with these two characters is perfect as ever tho i think she always plays a similar role in all her movies!! But in this it's fun watching her interactions with Tomei as the cynical/sassy waitress. fellas if you want to earn major brownie points with your partners you won't go far wrong choosing this as a option. But don't be surprised to find that you enjoy it yourselves.
