Its a distinctly frazzled Will Smith we see at the start of this teasing drama. Calling emergency services, he looks...

29 year old male, and i admit i cryed

A Customer from Birmingham, 14th January, 2009

I felt compelled to write this review after just watching this film, and i'm struggling to focus on the screen with all this water in my eyes. I had heard and read mixed reviews on this, so was sceptical as to what to expect, but i have to say that i loved this film! Granted if you don't like soppy films then don't waste your time with this, it won't appeal to everyone out there, but for those who like nothing better than to sit in one evening with a duvet on the sofa, then i cannot recommend this enough. You know get to know the plot of the film from the offset, so there are no real surprises. But even though i knew what was coming, i could not stop the bulge in my throat from happening, and i found myself crying along (I was alone, so it was OK) Will Smith's acting is second to none, and as a previous reviewer put it, he does get better with age. All i can say to those reading this review is, you must be interested in this type of film otherwise you wouldn't be reading these reviews, so please give it the chance, the worst that can happen is you waste a couple of hours, but you will be in the minority, of that i'm sure.

Booooring

Lin6663 from , 20th January, 2009

The premise is so ridiculous and the lack of any attempt to make it believable renders the film completely pointless. I am prepared to suspend my disbelief so far but to believe that a terminally ill woman would call some random bloke she had only met for a matter of minutes for support rather than her loving, caring sister is just downright ridiculous. I couldn't have cared less about the characters and am surprised this ever made it to the big screen..the only tears I wanted to shed were those of complete and utter frustration and boredom. The 'twist' is so clumsily that if you didn't see it coming you must be stupid. Go and see this film only if you are a masochist or suffer from insomnia.

is will smith becoming a better actor with age?

A Customer from england, 11th July, 2008

will smith is not just a comedy act, he can also be very serious and is a very good actor. in this drama he plays a man who will change the lives of seven ordinary people who lead normal lives until will smith comes along.

In Pursuit of Crappyness?

Jon Duckworth from Nottingham, England, 19th November, 2009

Will Smith continues his recent round of quasi-Messianic performances ('I Am Legend', 'Hancock') with this thoroughly depressing affair. Watch the DVD extras and it becomes apparent that the director, screenwriter and cast think they have crafted a clever puzzle with a devastating twist ending. In fact, the true motive for Smith's character's behaviour is bizarrely given away within the first half hour, leaving a tortuous further hour and a half before events reach their inevitible and, honestly, maudlin (and morbid) conclusion. With the usually watchable Smith conveying the pain of the central character through a facial expression that may indicate nothing more than haemorroids, 'Seven Pounds' is one of the most depressing mainstream star vehicles in recent memory, and worth watching only if, for whatever reason, you want to feel miserable.

seven pounds

Jezbo from , 18th November, 2009

One of the best films I have watched for a longtime. Although not fast paced you are glued trying to work out why. Dont check out the plot before watching, it will spoil the film. Smith loses his larger than life character for this film and shows he is a more versatile actor. You can feel the emotion just by the look on his face.

Strange one

Felt as I though had started to watch this movie half way through and remain unclear about what had actually happened. Maybe because it did not hold my attention.
