When California girl Susan Murphy is unwittingly clobbered by a meteor full of outer space gunk on her wedding day, she mysteriously grows to 49-feet-11-inches tall. The military jumps into action and Susan is captured and secreted away to a covert government compound. There, she is renamed Ginormica and placed in confinement with a ragtag group of Monsters: the brilliant but insect-headed Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D.; the macho half-ape, half-fish The Missing Link; the gelatinous and indestructible B.O.B.; and the 350-foot grub called Insectosaurus. Their confinement is cut short, however, when a mysterious alien robot lands on Earth and begins storming the country. In a moment of desperation, the President is persuaded to enlist the motley crew of Monsters to combat the Alien Robot and save the world from imminent destruction.

Monsters vs Aliens

Provided you watch this film in 3d, you'll love it's stunning scenes & graphics. More importantly it will take you mind off the fact that there is very little story and no new humour here at all. If you've ever seen a Dreamworks animated film before then there is nothing new here at all. Certainly nothing in the way of jokes or visual humour, I wonder if they've finally run out of fresh ideas? The 3d works superbly well though & is worth seeing for that alone.

Ace film

beccaandjay from , 31st March, 2009

I really enjoyed this film. the animation was amazing. Im the type who appreciates the animation on films like shrek and this film too. There's loads of giggles through the film. I saw this on sunday (the second day of the previews) and we had to prebook our premier seats because the cinema was really packed out. I adore these kids films. like Bolt and monsters inc and wall.e . So this film was a definite must watch. and i wasn't disappointed. (i'm trying not to give away any spoilers in this review.) To sum everything up, Susan and 4 other monster friends have to save the day from an evil alien after something (im not saying what but it makes an appearance at the start of the film, and its not the burger lol.) This film is funny, well animated and heart warming. so what are you waiting for? go watch Monsters Vs Aliens!

Monster Hit

Stunning, brilliant, breathtaking etc, etc................ Saw the film in 3D and it took my breath away (that's twice!!). Some reviewers seem to think it is light on story, well it is for kids and it was ok for me, and I'm no kid!!!! The 3D is wonderful as is the CGI especially the detail and shading. Go and see it and make a judgement, I'm sure you'll love it. 10 stars!!!!!!!

the children have watched this non stop since it arrived. As usual Pixar humour at its best with a few jobs that the adults get. Great film

Eat lead, robot!

Being the first animation directly produced in a 3-D format, and it being a collaborative effort between Paramount and Dreamworks, I had thought this would be a good movie. There were some brilliant references to other movies throughout the film, which added to the moments of comedy, but there weren't enough of these moments to make me warm to the film. I was disappointed, mostly because the trailers and marketting pitched MvsA as a Comedy, whereas I found it to be a Family animation aimed at young children, with very little comedy to speak of. With no mention of a sequel, this leaves me happy. I would recommend it to young families, as I can see the appeal, but it's just not what I thought it would be.

A fun animated movie

picknage from , 16th March, 2010

Animated films seem to have some of the most imaginative and clever scripts and this was no exception. There is always something to make you laugh whether adult or kid as well as the feel good bit too.

A huge dissapointment

Nicgiggs from , 15th March, 2010

Unfortunately this just isn't in the same class as toy story, monsters inc, WallE. It looks good but I didn't really believe in the story concept, it all happens a bit too fast at the start and doesn't give you time to get to know the story before it launches into a huge drama. (girl hit by meteor, turns into giant, gets put in jail with other monsters, tries to save planet). The problem with this film is you don't fall in love with the characters and the humour just isn't funny. There's no woody, or comedy pig, or cute robot. It's flat, unfeeling and doesn't really hang together as a coherent story. The trailers looked so good, but the film itself is poor. I didn't even make it to the end. (and I'll watch most things).

Great for the kids with bits for the grown ups

Jtro from , 15th March, 2010

It’s clearly not an adults movie but I was strangely drawn to this, the 11 year old watching it loved it, and there were a few things for the adults to chuckle to as well, so it’s worth a watch for those with kids/younger brothers sisters because there are a few laughs in there for the grown ups, but as you would expect it’s mainly for the kids, but all those I’ve seen who have watched it love it.
