Foreign Film

A Customer from Caldicot, 20th October, 2008

Unfortunatly I did not know this was a foreign Lanuage film. Because if I had picked that bit of information up first I would not of hired it. I did try to watch it and found myself not watching the film but constantly watching the bottom and so really not enjoying the film..which looked like it was a good film ..If I spoke French or German. If reading the words at the bottom of the screen is for you , you will love it otherwise give it a wide birth....shame !

The brave women of the Shadows

A Customer from England, 30th June, 2008

Thought this is generally a good all-round film with some tense, edge-of-seat action based on true events. Some decent acting depicting and honouring these extremely brave women - and men - who fought for the Allied cause in WW2. Thought it sad, though, that the British advertising is marketing the film under the fairly bland title of 'Female Agents', and has not retained the more thrilling-sounding and intriguing French title of 'Femmes des Ombres', ('Women of the Shadows') - Nice attention to detail of 1944 dress. Recommended viewing for many reasons.

BAD AND BORING

A Customer from london, 24th October, 2008

I'm French and I thought this movie was bad. Poor lines, poor acting, lack of emotions, thin storyline. I don't believe 1 second this was a true story , or if it is, they stretched it a lot... The movie was flat and at some moments unbelievable . Sophie Marceau plays Sophie Marceau , as usual. French atresses lack of acting skills in general if you compare to any English , american or Spanish actresses, and in this movie, it's pretty obvious. Julie Depardieu is the only who made her character believable and we feel for her ...But only once or twice. I almost turned it off before the end. Any BBC productions is well above this .

FEMALE AGENTS

SKILSAW from , 10th March, 2010

Quite formulaic but nontheless enjoyable ww2 movie. It does'nt hurt that Sophie Marceau and her fellow agents are easy on the eye, although a bit more depth to both story and characters would have given the movie more bite.As with many french movies,a certain panache gives it a boost.Certainly not a waste of a couple of hours of anyones time.

Eye-Opening and great from start to finish

lespa from , 22nd February, 2010

I really enjoyed this film, not only for its historical content but also for making it known on a wider scale the jobs that female spies carried out during World War 2. Some violent bits, but nothing overly sensational. Great performances from the whole cast. An absolute must-see!
