The Bank Job is a highly-charged heist thriller based upon the infamous 1971 robbery that took place at the Lloyds Bank in Marylebone London. Starring Jason Stantham as Terry, a car dealer with a dodgy past and Saffron Burrows as Martine, the woman with the plan, The Bank Job interweaves corruption, murder and scandel with 1970's England! When Martine offers Terry a lead on a foolproof bank hit on London's Baker Street, he recognizes the opportunity of a lifetime! The plan: to target a roomful of safe deposit boxes worth millions in cash and jewelry. However Terry and his crew don't realize the boxes also contain a treasure trove of dirty secrets - secrets that will thrust them into a deadly web of corruption and illicit scandal that spans London's criminal underworld, the highest echelons of the British government, and the Royal Family itself.

Good Bad Guys and Bad Good Guys!

Hobes from , 18th September, 2008

Statham's best film since Snatch! I enjoyed this from start to finish. It had the feel of a 'Good old Cockney caper' the Bad Guys are the Good Guys and the Good Guys are really Bad Guys! It all seemed a little far fetched to be a true story, but It wouldn't be the first film to let a little thing like the facts get in the way of a good movie. I'm off to research this robbery on the internet. Watch it, you'll enjoy it!

A boring film with average acting and a not bad last 10 mins, but with nothing more to offer other than it was a true story

Good acting with a good plot. Really good to see good UK films. There are just not enough. However someting about this film couldn't persuade me to jump to excellent or outstanding. I just cannot put my finger on what it was. I'm glad I saw the film, but it's not one I would want to see again. Add it to your list to avoid not receiving a film, but if you have enough on order, then I would not bother with this film.

Quite good but don't expect too much. Amusing in places with some good action scenes but trying to be too much like Lock Stock etc. OK for a night in.

A well made and engaging film

idontwantnickname from , 9th February, 2010

This is a great film that has managed to get all aspects of film making up to a very high standard and it works. It's well paced, the acting is consistently good, an excellent screenplay, the visual shots, lighting and sound are all very well done. It's not often a British film scores on all fronts, but this does. Added to this is the factual interest which makes it even more engaging. Well worth watching

Based on true story, bit of history

A Customer from london, 4th February, 2010

Didn't think I would like the film, well a bank job is a bank job film like many well trodden theme like vampire films. It was surprisingly interesting, partly due to being based on true story hence our history. Good pace through out but find it a bit hard to believe/very doubtful as to how walkie talkie can transmit so clearly right down via the basement and to communicate so clearly, especially with technology in the 70s (even with current technology in the 21st century - mobile signals will be not be good down there if at all, radio waves can still not be received while driving under any tunnel of some length), apart from that well it is a good film. One of the biggest bank robbery and all hushed up! Content will all be revealed in 2054 when most of us will be dead and gone.
